OUR 100-mile CENTURY ROUTE is known for its “challenge” and great SAG support. Enjoy the diverse scenery, all on-road. Your Subway lunch will be waiting at a stop along the way (from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.) At the end of your journey, feast on a chicken and pasta dinner with corn-on-the-cob (from 3 to 5 p.m.) on the patio of the Taverne of Richfield. Craft beers available at cash bar. Enjoy sharing the “war stories” of the day. Early returners may choose instead to eat the picnic lunch until 2:00. Your choice!
The 25- and 50-MILE ROUTES traverse near the rim of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park and meander through parks, valleys, splendid residential areas and farmland. The 50 mile-route has more challenging hills. By popular demand, the optional add-on hills are an ongoing-feature for the ‘lean and mean.’ Take a Selfie for proof and to win a prize.
The 10-MILE FAMILY ROUTE is escorted by motorcyclists with traffic controlled at critical intersections. The ride will leave at 10 a.m. sharp, with no late starters permitted. Children under the age of eight (8) must ride on a Tandem or Trail Along bike, or in a trailer, with an adult over 18 years of age.
Route Arrows: Arrows or signs will mark the route where they are permitted.
SAG/MEDICAL SUPPORT: Cleveland Clinic Akron General will provide first aid at all water stops. SAG vehicles will support all routes.
SNACK / WATER STOPS supplied by our sponsors and Richfield Giant Eagle will keep you hydrated: four stops on the 100 mile route, three on the 50, and one on the 25- and 10-mile routes.
GPS Downloads: The day before the ride, those who have pre-registered will be sent an address from which they can download all of GPS routes.
Run (or walk) alone or with a team. Locate scavenger items along the way and take a Selfie to prove your success and to show your creative attire. Prizes will be awarded for most creative selfies.
PRE-REGISTRATION: It helps us if you register early, so sign up by May 10 or July 10 and receive one of two discounts. (See Registration form inside.) Pick up your Registration packet the morning of the Challenge. Biker packets will include a meal ticket, map and mileage guide so be sure to check your chosen route on the registration form and we will include the correct map in your packet.
SAME DAY REGISTRATIONS are welcome. The Challenge is limited to the first 2,500 participants. Cyclists are required to wear a CPSC certified helmet at all times when bicycling in the Eddy’s Bike Shop Sweet Corn Challenge. The ride is NOT a race and is open to all interested cyclists. Entrants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a responsible cycling adult.
Please ride single file and use hand signals. No ear buds may be used while riding.
